Terri Lyne Carrington was one of the first women drummers to reach a level of excellence where gender
became irrelevant. While still a child, Carrington developed a reputation in the Boston area by jamming with such jazz luminaries as Dizzy Gillespie, Oscar Peterson and Clark Terry.
At age 11 she was awarded a full scholarship to Berklee College of Music and soon afterward made her first recording "TLC and Friends." After moving to New York in 1983, she worked with Stan Getz, Pharoah Sanders, Dianne Reeves, David Sanborn, Wayne Shorter and Gary Thomas.
She moved to Los Angeles in 1989 to be the house drummer on The Arsenio Hall Show and has since toured with Joe Sample, Al Jarreau and Herbie Hancock. Her Polygram release, "Real Life Story", was a Grammy nominee. Carrington continues to perform with some of the greatest names in jazz and modern music.
