Paul Simon - Featured Performer
Paul Simon is considered one of the most influential singer-songwriters of our time. As both a solo artist and as part of a performing duo, Paul has gained
artist recognition for his expressive lyrics and unique songwriting style. Among Simon's most popular albums is 1966's Sounds of Silence, which established both he and Art Garfunkel as prominent folk-rock musicians. Numerous follow up albums throughout the late 1960s solidified Simon and Garfunkel's status as two of the most popular musicians in America.

Simon's solo career began in the early 1970s and his first album as solo artist achieved platinum status. As a soloist, Paul had an opportunity to explore Latin, reggae and other musical influences. Such influences were evident in his 1973 album There Goes Rhymin' Simon. The 1975 album Still Crazy After All These Years reached number one largely based on the strength of the hit "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover." Still Crazy After All These Years won Paul the Grammy Award for Best Album.

The 1980s saw the release of heavily African influenced Graceland, and won Simon his second Album of the Year Grammy, reinforcing his reputation as one of the most versatile artists of our time. Paul highlighted the early 1990s with a signature performance in Central Park that was recorded as a live album. In 2000, Simon released You're The One, which received critical acclaim and a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year.

In March of 2001, Paul was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and both he and Art Garfunkel were recipients of the 2003 Lifetime Achievement Grammy award.

In 2002, President George W. Bush and Secretary of State Colin Powell presented a Kennedy Center Honor to Paul Simon for a lifetime of achievement in the arts. President Bush commented that Paul has written "some of the most memorable songs of our times."
