About the American Drummers Achievement Awards
The American Drummers Achievement Award was created by the Zildjian family to acknowledge the remarkable contribution that drumming has made to contemporary music. The award honors those individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the art of drum set playing and to music itself. Zildjian hosted the first American Drummers Achievement Awards in 1998 in celebration of the company's 375th Anniversary. Living musical legends Max Roach, Elvin Jones, Louie Bellson and Roy Haynes were all honored at that event and scholarships were endowed in each of their names at Berklee College of Music.
