Zildjian is pleased to announce the rescheduled dates for the Mission from Gadd European tour which was postponed due to the grounding of flights into the UK after the ash cloud from the volcano in Iceland. The rescheduled dates will take place during the first 2 weeks of September - see below for full info. Furthermore, due to the rescheduled dates, it has also been possible to add an extra date on the tour which will be in Manchester on 7th September.
With this announcement, Steve Gadd explained "I was very disappointed that we had to postpone the first few dates of the tour due to the volcano, but I'm excited to come to the UK and Ireland in September and meet all the drummers." Gavin Thomas, product manager for Yamaha Drums and Zildjian added "We have heard that the unaffected dates in Holland, Germany, Italy and Spain have been an amazing success so I am so grateful to Steve that he has been able to find time to re-arrange everything. All of us at Zildjian, as well as STEVE GADD are deeply disappointed by the situation and hope to make it to Europe in time to continue the tour as planned. After drawing record-breaking crowds in 2005 and 2006 throughout the US and Canada during Zildjian's "Mission From Gadd" tours, drumming icon, Steve Gadd, will be coming to key European markets in April 2010. "Mission From Gadd Europe" will be making eleven stops in eight countries, beginning in Paris, France and finishing in Seville, Spain. Countries and dates are listed below. Stay tuned for more details including venues and times.
The first "Mission From Gadd" tour in 2005 marked Steve Gadd's return after a 20-year absence from the clinic scene and incorporated a completely new and revolutionary format. "Mission From Gadd Europe" will feature many of the same elements as the previous "Mission From Gadd" tours including a self-contained tour bus, a 'Sales Event' where consumers will be able to check out all new releases for 2010 with Zildjian Factory representatives on hand, limited edition "Mission From Gadd Europe" t-shirts, a 'meet and greet' with Steve and each day culminating with a clinic performance by the legendary Steve Gadd.
One of the most recorded drummers of all time, Steve Gadd has been the driving force behind artists such as Eric Clapton, Paul Simon, James Taylor, Steely Dan, Chick Corea and countless others. He has influenced generations of drummers and created some of the most memorable and emulated drum grooves in modern music.
In 2003, Steve was the recipient of Zildjian's American Drummers Achievement Award. In 2004, Steve was instrumental in designing Zildjian's K Custom Session line of cymbals. He also received an honorary Doctorate of Music from Berklee College of Music and was inducted into the Percussive Arts Society Hall of Fame in 2005.
Commented John DeChristopher, Zildjian's Vice President, Artist Relations & Event Marketing Worldwide, "Anything that involves Steve Gadd is guaranteed to be big and our 'Mission From Gadd' tours were the biggest events ever presented in the US and Canada, so we're excited to finally bring it to Europe. The format for Europe will be much the same as previous "Mission From Gadd" tours; our goal is to provide the ultimate experience for Steve's fans and our European distribution partners, by presenting a rare opportunity to see Steve Gadd up close in an intimate setting. We'll also be utilizing the various
social networking sites to allow fans to interact with Steve while we're on the bus."
