o těpan was born in Prague, Czech Republic to a musical family. His father Pavel was a known jazzman, mother Marta a musicologist and grandfather Vaclav a symphony conductor. He completed his studies at the Prague Conservatory, with a discipline in percussion instruments. He quickly becomes a well-known drummer in the Czech Republic and since has kept busy with various engagements and recordings. As a studio drummer he has recorded more than 40 cds, and has played with Czech and international projects of various music styles. o těpan participates as a composer or arranger for many of these projects.
Since 1995 o těpan released more than 10 albums with his original music projects (New Orchestra of Dreams, o S & friends, Filipes a plache lane, NTS trio, Old Schooll band). Besides this Stepan currently teaches and performs with legendary Czech rock bands Wanastowi Vjecy and Krausberry.
o těpan also works as music producer. He is Zildjian cymbals endorser. He plays DW drums, Ludwig, Yamaha, and Remo. In studio he works on ProTools daw, monitors Genelec and M-Audio, microphones Audio Technika, Shure, Lewitt, Cumica.
